Explore the world of robotics using LEGO®’s new NXT line. Build robots with motors and sensors to explore the environment and perform tasks.
Make a rover bot with a "crushing" claw, a bulldozer which clears trash wth the
aid of a light sensor, an electronic mousetrap, even an electronic guitar which
really works (no music experience necessary)!
You’ll learn how to program your bots by using software in which you place icons in sequence to create the instructions that you desire. It’s easy to learn, and teaches about loops and conditional statements which is an important foundation for understanding the concept of programming.
As a bonus, we will discuss the First Lego League® (FLL), a school year program which provides robotics education and team competitions. We will discuss FLL competitions and have students perform a typical mission.
Students take home a CD containing instructions for building and programming robots at home, but not the robots themselves.
Note: NXT Robotics is a half-day class. If you wish to take this class as part of an all-day camp, please sign up for the camp entitled NXT Robotics/Game Design.
