GIRLS CAMP

TechKnowHow Girls Camp encourages girls, ages 10-14, to explore the creative and empowering world of technology - in an atmosphere that is fun and supportive. These classes can be taken as a half-day or all-day option.

Female instructors guide students through hands-on technology projects, from designing a computer game to creating professional video effects. In the course of the class, ideas are shared among campers and opportunities to work in pairs and/or teams exist.

Create your own computer-generated movie using real-time, 3D virtual environment software. You select animated 3D characters, textures and scenery, then control actions, camera views, and dialogue to design your own movie within this 3D world. It’s an increasingly popular method of creating 3D movies called machinima. Work with 3D views, timelines, lighting, and special effect generators. Students explore audio and visual computer effects, as well as spend time in front of and behind cameras to create footage for their projects.

Students take home a CD with their computer movie.

Create your own interactive computer games! You design or import the characters, set up the levels, create controls for actions and events, add music and sound effects, high score tables and even cheat codes!

Game themes will be an action maze. Learn the process of making a game including sprite design, multimedia use, variables, scorekeeping, multi-level creation, and lots more!

Take home your games to play on a PC.

These classes for Summer 2008 are being held at the following location:
