Platform AND 3d Racing Games

Prerequisite: Any other TechKnowHow Game Design course or Age 11-14

Design your own computer games -- a 2d platform game and a 3d racing game. Your games will feature characters with offensive and defensive powers, music and sound effects, in-game maps, and special effects such as flashes and rain. You’ll design using object-oriented software with drag-and-drop actions from which you construct events and behavior for objects and characters. The 3d racing game will feature arcade-style action with speed and performance controls. You will import code (similar to JAVA) to create 3D visuals and game play in the racing game.

Take home your games to play on a Windows-based PC, with at least 16MB of video memory. Fee includes registered full version of the software. (The 3d game requires a computer with a 3d video card and at least 16MB of video memory).

Note: There is a $15 materials fee in addition to the tuition for this course. This enables students to take home a registered copy of the game design software so that they can continue to make games on a Windows-platform computer at home.

This class for Summer 2008 is being held at the following location:

Palo Alto JCC Week of 8-04

Cupertino Week of 8-11
