Prerequisite: Any other TechKnowHow Game Design course or Age 11-14

Design your own computer games -- a 2d platform game and a 3D first-person action game. The platform game will feature characters with offensive and defensive powers, music and sound effects, and special effects such as gravity and flashes. The 3D game will include first person point-of-view movement through a virtual environment which you design. You will use drag-and-drop actions to construct events and behavior for objects and characters. You will also import code to create the 3D view that the player sees.

Take home your games to play on a Windows-based PC. Fee includes registered full version of the software.
(The 3d game requires a computer with a 3d video card and at least 16MB of video memory).

Note: There is a $15 materials fee in addition to the tuition for this course. This enables students to take home a registered copy of the game design software so that they can continue to make games on a Windows-platform computer at home.

  • If a student has completed Game Design Maze and Scrolling Games: Yes, this class introduces two new
styles of games including a 3D first-person type game. Students will learn how to incorporate special effects,
gravity, maps, and paths into their games.

  • If a student completed Game Design 2 last year: This class features a new game- the platform style game.
The 3D first-person game is similar to the one created in Game Design 2. However, the student can select
a new theme, and populate the game with different characters and settings.

  • If a student completed Game Design 3 last year: This class features a new game- the 3D first-person game.
The platform game is similar to the one created in Game Design 3. However, the student can select a new
theme, and populate the game with different characters and settings.
