Ultimate Builders:
Robotics & Alternative Energy Vehicles with LEGO® Bricks, Plus Game Design!

Build robotic vehicles and machines that use the LEGO® Scout microcomputer, “programming” their actions with built-in buttons. Projects include a four-legged robot walker, a high-performance car, amusement park ride, solar-powered vehicle, and more! You’ll learn all about gears, pulleys, walking systems, and how alternative energy systems work. Build a different project each day.

In the afternoon, you will create your own computer adventure game which you take home to play on a personal computer. You design or import characters, create a setting and provide game characters with instructions for a variety of actions. Character library includes many LEGO minifigures, bricks, and vehicles.

Please Note: Students take home a CD containing a video of themselves with some projects and project building instructions, plus their computer game. STUDENTS DO NOT TAKE HOME THE LEGO PROJECTS OR PIECES.

If you took a class using the LEGO MIndstorms Scout with TechKnowHow before, we have 5 new building projects this year. Projects include a four-legged robot walker, a high-performance car, amusement park ride, solar-powered vehicle, and more! In the afternoon, you will create your own computer adventure game which you take home to play on a personal computer.

In Ultimate Builders, the projects are more advanced than Spybots, and perform a greater variety of motions and tasks. You design vehicles, machines, and creatures in this class. You will control your creations by "programming" actions and responses by selecting buttons on the Scout. In Spybots, you control vehicles with a remote. The computer portion of the Ultimate Builders class involves creating a computer game. You design or import characters, create a setting and provide game characters with instructions for a variety of actions.
