Jedi Robotics and Game Design Academy Ages 8 - 11
9 am - 3:30 pm

This is a 2017 summer camp.
2018 summer camps will be updated in January 2018.

In a galaxy not so far away, students design motorized and robotic creatures and vehicles from the Star Wars® movies using LEGO® components. We'll use motors along with WeDo® 2.0 motion and tilt sensors to bring our creations to life! Design an AT-AT walker with laser sounds. Build an X-wing and Y-wing craft that you can cotrol with a remote. Create an AT-ST and learn how to make walking LEGO® creations. We'll even create a pilot training center where you can simulate X-wing and Tie fighter pursuits. Plus, build your own Star Wars®-themed creations.

In the afternoon, students design two Star Wars-themed computer games while learning coding fundamentals with Scratch® software. You'll learn the keys of computer science, from loops to if/else statements, logical operators, and variables using Scratch®'s code blocks.

Students will take home their games to play at home with Scratch®, free software by the MIT Media Lab. Games are compatible on PC and Mac computers.
