Blockbuster Builds: Motorized Movie Vehicles and Mechanical f/x Made with LEGO® Elements & K’NEX - Ages 6 - 8
9 am - 3:30 pm

Join us for a week of building magic as we design vehicles for our favorite movie and TV characters using LEGO® elements. We’ll create motorized versions of the Minion® mobile, Scooby-doo®’s Mystery Machine, the Ghostbuster® Ecto-1, the Optimus Prime Transformer, and Luke’s X-wing fighter from Star Wars®. You’ll learn all about vehicle design, aerodynamics, and how to power LEGO® creations with gears and add motors.

Then, in the afternoon, we’ll use the K’NEX construction system to build structures and mechanical f/x to accompany our vehicles. Design a haunted house complete with a spinning “ghost“ for the Ghostbusters® to encounter. Build a motorized Tie-fighter to challenge Luke? Make a walking alien for Scooby to catch. Learn bridge-building techniques so that Optimus Prime can travel safely across the span. K’NEX is a great system that lets LEGO® lovers build large structures and motorized creatures by understanding the structural value of shapes such as boxes and trusses, and the nature of mechanisms such as hinges.

As with all of our camps, students get to use their creativity while learning new building techniques so that they are able to design anything that they can dream up!
