Camp Instructors

TechKnowHow summer computer camp instructors Legos and Game Design

Each TechKnowHow camp features a teaching team of one lead instructor and one instructor. Lead instructors are often school teachers during the year, or professionals who work in the technology field. They are joined by instructors who are typically college students, often with an education or computer science major. A counselor-in-training may also be available to assist students in the classroom.

Teachers complete training, both in the specific course work which they will teach, as well as in general student interaction and camp management.

Although our staff have varied backgrounds, all share an interest and ability in teaching technology skills to students!

Here are some instructors who were part of the TechKnowHow teaching staff during the most recent summer:

Krissy is a middle school teacher in Menlo Park, where she has helped students learn for the past 13 years. Krissy has been a lead teacher with TechKnowHow for the past five summers. She most enjoys seeing the students' enthusiasm as they learn something new and put new skills into action, whether with LEGO projects or in the design of computer games.

lego summer campVicki is a kindergarten teacher in San Jose during the school year, and has been an instructor at TechKnowHow for six years. "Teaching and working with children is a passion of mine, and TechKnowHow is a wonderful camp to attend if you have a creative mind. I enjoy working with children and seeing their imagination come to life. It is amazing how creative students can get with their LEGO projects, and that is what makes each day at camp memorable."

Swetha currently teaches technology at a local private school, where she’s been for nine years. She coached her school’s Middle School Robotics Team, which placed well in the First LEGO League competition last year. This is her fourth summer teaching for TechKnowHow. Swetha loves teaching and knowing that she is making a difference in the lives of her students.

Harvey has a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and over twenty years experience in the high-tech industry. He has been an instructor at TechKnowHow for six years, and he is currently pursuing his teaching credential in mathematics. Harvey teaches a number of our Game Design courses. "I enjoy computers, love to play games, and delight in working with children. It's a close call between who has more fun: the children or me."

Jeff is a graduate from UC Santa Cruz's Computer Science: Game Design program. He has helped to develop and expand the game design curriculum based on his game design experience. He has also been an instructor at TechKnowHow for the last six years. "I've loved creating games for as long as I can remember. It is a pleasure to be able to help kids explore computers and game design. My goal is to show them that their ability to make games is bounded only by their creativity.

Max is currently attending Cal Poly. His hobbies include web design, flash, and programming in C and Java. Max loves LEGOs and technology; and he enjoys sharing his knowledge with children. Max has taught with TechKnowHow for three summers.
